In 2019 Latvia occupies the same position as in 2018, though it remains behind Baltic neighbors Estonia (16th place) and Lithuania (14th place).
However, it also means Latvia is placed higher than Canada, Ireland, Poland, France, Spain and even Germany.
The top three ranked countries are New Zealand, Singapore and Denmark. The worst is Somalia in 190th place.
Latvia performed particularly well in getting access to credit and paying taxes but poorly on the issue of resolving insolvency.
In 2016 Latvia ranked as high as 16th in the list, but slipped back to 19th in last year's rankings and remains there this year.
