It was established five years ago and the name change is to reflect a new array of services the app is to offer.
"We want the brand to reflect the future, not the past of the company. Our new name, Bolt, symbolizes quick and easy movement, which is what we think the experience of moving around in the city should be, whether it's by car, public transportation, or scooter," said company head Markus Villig.
The company is to switch names within a month, and phone apps will be updated automatically.
