Latvia ranked in top ten Emerging markets

Take note – story published 9 years ago

Latvia was named one of the top ten "Emerging markets" in the world Friday by financial newswire Bloomberg.

In its annual rundown of Emerging and Frontier markets, Latvia was placed 9th behind South Korea, Qatar, China, the United Arab Emirates, Chile, Malaysia, Panama and Peru, with Latvia and Poland rounding out the top ten.

But in a quirk of Bloomberg's category criteria, fellow Baltic states Estonia and Lithuania found themselves listed not among Emerging markets but Frontier markets, in 2nd and 4th places respectively.

The Bloomberg Markets emerging and frontier markets rankings are based on 19 measures of the investing climate, from forecasts of gross domestic product growth to the ease of doing business.
