Visitors spent 103.5 thousand nights in accommodation establishments, which is double that of April 2020 and 7.6 % more than in March.
Even though emergency situation this year continued until 6 April and downtime was still in a large part of accommodation establishments, compared to April a year ago, an increase of visitors was observed in accommodation establishments.
In April 2021 tourist accommodation establishments hosted 43.6 thousand Latvian visitors, which is four times more than in April 2020 and 6.4 % more than in March. Number of nights spent by them comprised 83.3 thousand, and it rose 2.6 times, compared to April last year.
Latvian visitors stayed mostly in Riga (29.1 %), Jūrmala (10.7 %), Liepāja (9.8 %), Kuldīga municipality and Daugavpils (3.4 %), Ventspils (2.5 %) and Amata municipality (2.4 %).
In April 2021 the number of foreign visitors comprised 8.6 thousand, which is 3.6 times more than in April 2020 and 17.7 % more than in March. Number of nights spent by them comprised 20.1 thousand, which is a drop of 9.2 %, compared to a year ago. The majority of foreign visitors came from Estonia (1.2 thousand), Lithuania (0.8 thousand), Russia, Germany and United Kingdom (0.7 thousand) and Poland (0.6 thousand).
Most foreign visitors stayed in Riga (77.4 %), Jūrmala (6.5 %) and Liepāja (4.2 %).
