Riga Airport serves 5.2% more passengers on year

In September 2016 the Rīga International Airport airport received 494,729 passengers, up 5.2% from the same month in 2015, the airport told the press.

While the number of passengers served between January and September grew 4.7% against the same period in 2015 to 4.136 million people.

During this time, the airport handled 51,469 flights, down 0.1% from the first nine months of 2015, including 6,104 flights in September, which is 3% less than in September last year.

Increase in cargo turnover

From January to September 2016, the airport loaded 14,711 tons of cargo, which is 11.1% over the same period in 2015. In September 2016, the airport's cargo turnover grew 15.5% on year to 1,575 tons.

While in 2015, Riga airport served 5.163 million passengers, up 7.2% from 2014, handled 68,078 flights and processed 18,863 tons of cargo.

The Rīga International Airport is owned fully by the state.
