Two candidates apply to design Rail Baltica section through Rīga

Two international consortiums, Obermeyer Planen+Beraten – Prointec and Idom-Ineco, have submitted their financial bids in a tender for the design and design supervision services for the construction of the Rail Baltica mainline section through Riga, LETA was told at the joint Baltic venture RB Rail, which is implementing the railway project.

RB Rail representative Līva Biseniece said that the RB Rail procurement commission on March 15 opened the financial proposals in the tender for the design and design supervision services for the construction of the mainline section through Riga. Obermeyer Planen+Beraten – Prointec offers to do the job for €11.363 million and the price offered by Idom-Ineco is €12.989 million.

On March 5, the RB Rail procurement commission opened proposals for the design and design supervision services for the construction of the new line on the section Vangazi – Salaspils – Misa. In this tender, bids have been submitted by three international contenders - Obermeyer Planen + Beraten GmbH - Prointec S.A., which offers to do the job for €10.733 million, Association of Egis Rail SA, DB Engineering & Consulting GmbH and Olimps Ltd, which offers a price of €12.024 million, and IDOM, Consulting, Engineering, Architecture S.A.U. and Ingenieria y Economia del Transporte S.M.E. M.P. S.A., which would do the work for €12.364 million.

In both tenders, the bids would be assessed within two months’ time.

As reported, Rail Baltica is a double track, European standard 1,435 mm gauge electrified railway for passenger and freight transport to be built from Tallinn to the Lithuanian-Polish border. The overall length of the railway will be 870 kilometers. The total cost of Rail Baltica in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia is estimated at around €5.8 billion.
