Unemployment rate in May down 0.3% in Latvia

Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) estimate published on June 20 shows that in May 2024 actual unemployment rate in Latvia was 6.6 % and it has reduced by 0.3 percentage points over the month.

 Over the year actual unemployment rate has increased by 0.2 percentage points.

The unemployment rate both for women and men fell by 0.3 percentage points, to 6.1 % and 7.1 %, respectively.

The unemployment rate registered with the State Employment Agency (NVA) was 5.2 %. It has reduced by 0.2 percentage points over the month and by 0.3 percentage points over the year.

In May 2024 there were 62.9 thousand unemployed persons in Latvia (29.3 thousand women and 33.6 thousand men), which is 2.5 thousand fewer than a month ago and 2.5 thousand more than a year ago. During the month, the number of unemployed men reduced by 1.3 thousand and of unemployed women by 1.2 thousand.
