Job vacancy numbers rose significantly in Q3 in Latvia

Data published December 15 by the Central Statistical Bureau (CSB) show that at the end of the 3rd quarter of 2021 there were 23.5 thousand job vacancies in Latvia, which is 2.6 thousand vacancies or 12.3% more than in the 3rd quarter of 2020.

 In the private sector there were 14.9 thousand and in the public sector 8.5 thousand job vacancies. Over the year, the number of job vacancies in the private sector grew by 1.9 thousand or 14.3 %, while in the public sector – by 0.7 thousand or 8.9 %.

Compared to the 2nd quarter of 2021, the number of job vacancies reduced by 7.2% or 1.8 thousand. In the private sector, there was a drop of 11.8 % or 2.0 thousand, while in the public sector – an increase of 2.0% or 0.2 thousand.

Out of all job posts the highest share of job vacancies was registered among skilled agricultural, forestry and fishery workers – 5.2 %, craft and related trades workers – 3.8 %, as well as professionals – 3.7 %.
