Latvia makes Top 10 worldwide on workplace equality

Take note – story published 5 years ago

Latvia is one of the top ten countries in the world when it comes to gender equality in the workplace, according to recent research.

The Women's Workplace Equality Index (WWIE), published October 15, places Latvia in tenth position globally, with fellow Baltic state Lithuania also making the top ten in eighth spot. The rankings come from the Council of Foreign Relations, based on World Bank data.

Latvia scores particularly well on  accessibility of institutions, getting a job, going to court and  using property. Interestingly it outranks all the Nordic countries except Iceland.
