Ukrainian children will be able to get summer jobs in Latvia

Electronic registration for children's summer jobs is beginning on May 2 on the website of the State Employment Agency (NVA). Ukrainian children will be able to get a job this summer alongside the Latvian teens.

On May 2, pupils who want to work in the Rīga region during the summer holidays can start to apply; registration opens on May 3 for Kurzeme and Zemgale, and on May 5 for Latgale and Vidzeme. Registration will be open until August 15. A pupil may agree with a specific employer or apply for any vacancy. The number of workplaces is limited.

This summer, Ukrainian civilians aged between 15 and 20 who are studying in general, special, or vocational education establishments will also be able to work in the workplaces co-financed by the State.

The application is available here, in Latvian only.

The pupils' summer employment will take place from 1 June to 31 August. Pupils aged 15 to 20 years (including) who acquire education in general, special or vocational education institutions may participate.

The pupil shall be employed for one month, in certain cases, in agreement with the employer, for up to two months. The monthly salary per pupil for full working hours will not be less than the national minimum salary of €500 before tax.

A pupil aged 15 to 18 shall be employed for a maximum of 7 hours a day and not more than 35 hours a week. A pupil aged 18 to 20 is employed for 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week. Pupils should not be employed in works involving increased risks to their safety, health, morality, and development.
