Sarkandaugava overpass to be open for traffic this week

On March 31, the newly built Sarkandaugava overpass over Rīga-Skulte railway line was commissioned and will soon be put into use, Rīga Vice Mayor Vilnis Ķirsis said on Twitter.

It is planned to open the overpass for traffic before Easter.

The construction of the Sarkandaugava overpass began in March of 2020 and the construction work was completed on December 15, 2022. It was planned to open it for traffic at the end of 2022 but the opening was delayed.

The length of the new overpass, not counting exit ramps, is 454.4 meters. It is connected to Viestura Avenue and Tvaika Street. The total cost of the project was EUR 42 million.
