This will cost approximately EUR 20 million without value-added tax (VAT).
During construction work it is intended to strengthen the fixtures on the bank of the Daugava, to construct a secure pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, including a pedestrian crossing bridge under the Akmens Bridge, and to restore engineering communications.
The waterfront fixtures of Mūkusalas Street were built 62 years ago and are in critical condition, which can pose hazards.
The promenade redevelopment is scheduled to be completed by the end of November 2025.
Significant traffic restrictions are not expected to be introduced during construction, as most construction works will take place in the green area of Mūkusalas Street – between the river and the street.
Local traffic restrictions, which may affect the part of the carriageway, are expected within the framework of the project, for example, by constructing engineering communications connection points, pedestrian crossings, and bus stops, rebuilding existing parking areas, and arranging green zones separating the directions of movement of the Mūkusala Street.
The construction in the area will restrict pedestrian and cyclist movements.
The total funding planned for strengthening the bank of Mūkusalas Street and construction of the related infrastructure is approximately EUR 20 million excluding VAT, construction work will be carried out by “Tilts” Ltd. The Treasury loan will finance 85% of the costs, while 15% is financed by Riga municipality.
