The Zunds Canal bridge construction tender was launched to develop infrastructure near the Rīga Technical University. The winning project envisages a "Mile of Knowledge" with eco-friendly bridge construction and related infrastructure and decor.
The pedestrian and cycling bridge is planned to be completed by spring 2026, so the next step is to develop the construction project according to the winning bid. The municipality is also continuing its efforts to rehabilitate and improve the rest of the area and infrastructure adjacent to the Zunds over the next few years.
The construction of the bridge is one of the most important projects for the construction of the planned cycle path "Rīga-Babīte-Piņķi", for the promotion of mobility and the improvement of the surroundings of the Zunds Canal. The bridge will form an important cycling link between Pārdaugava and Ķīpsala, where the Riga Technical University campus is located.
The second place in the competition went to the project "ZZUUNNDDSS" by LLC "MADE arhitekti", LLC, "Projekts3" and Eva Abduļina, while the third place went to "ZUT 001" by LLC "Levins Arhitekti".
