Car with Belarus plates found in sea near Carnikava, Latvia

On Tuesday, a car with Belarus number plates was found in the sea near Carnikava, Latvia, close to the coast, Zemgale Regional Television observed.

The State Fire and Rescue Service confirmed that information on such an occurrence was received at 9:32.

At the site of the event, firefighters found the passenger car was in the water, a few meters from the coast. No people were in it.

There was no leakage of fluids from the car either.

As there is no threat to the environment, further help from firefighters was not needed. However, local government police are continuing their work at the scene.

The police indicated that the car had likely driven into the sea at night; the investigation was ongoing.

The municipality of Ādaži said on Facebook that an administrative infringement process has been initiated.

The driver has violated the rules of the "Piejūra" beach nature park and has ignored the ban mark.

Car removal jobs are to be carried out by the owner himself.
