For passengers with strollers and people in wheelchairs, the boarding arrangements will not change and will take place through the middle doors. Nor will the normal arrangements for boarding through all doors be changed in trams.
The purpose of such arrangements is to change the behavior of passengers so that they register each journey and reduce the number of fare dodgers.
The procedures currently in place for passenger embarkation through the front door have been introduced on 30 different public transport routes at all times of day.
With the introduction of such arrangements, registration of tickets on such routes has increased by around 22%, said Rīgas Satiksme.
