Gradual traffic restrictions introduced in Rīga for song festival

As the Song and Dance Festival approaches, the first traffic restrictions are introduced in Rīga on Monday, June 26. Vehicle parking bans will be introduced gradually in several places in the city this week, the local government said.

The restrictions will be introduced to "ensure a successful festival".

From June 26 at 20:00 to July 10 midnight, The stopping and parking of vehicles will be prohibited on the right-hand side of Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica Boulevard from Kaļķu to Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street.

It will also be prohibited to stop or park on the left side of Raiņa Boulevard near the building on Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street 4 (up to the embassy parking lots).

From Thursday, June 29, at 20:00 to Friday, June 30, at 21:00 the stopping and parking of vehicles will be banned on the Eksporta Street section from Hanzas Street to Katrīnas Street.

A new section has been created on the local government's home page, with information on traffic during Song and Dance Festival, as well as a digital map reflecting upcoming traffic restrictions.

Riga municipality calls on festival participants and guests to use public transport as much as possible, or to go on foot or bicycles.
