Brasa bridge to be fully open for traffic soon

On Wednesday, November 1, traffic on the 11th tram route will be restored over the overpass built on the side of Brivības Street. The rest of the vehicle traffic over the Brasa Bridge is planned to be restored in the first half of November, Riga City Council said Tuesday.

A redevelopment of the Brasa Bridge, consisting of two adjacent and interconnected passes, is coming to a close. Construction of the overpass on the side of Duntes Street concluded in June when reverse tram traffic was opened. From November 1, tram traffic will also be restored over the overpass built on the side of Brīvibas Street, thus restoring tram traffic on the Brasa Bridge as it was before the bridge was rebuilt.

"The full restoration of public transport traffic will soon – in the coming weeks – be followed by the opening of the bridge to pedestrians, cyclists and cars," Rīga Mayor Vilnis Ķirsis said.

Reconstruction of the Brasa Bridge has been completed at about 90%, the city council said.
