This section of the railway will include the municipalities of Iecava and Bauska.
The first works will take place in the territory of Iecava municipality and are scheduled to finish by the end of 2021. The aim of the study is to obtain the necessary engineering information on the soil composition and its physical characteristics for the design of the “Rail Baltica” train and the development of sustainable technical solutions.
The engineering research will be carried out by the design company IDOM, Consulting, Engineering, Architecture, S.A.U. and its subcontractor, an international Austrian company branch in Latvia, Intergeo Baltic.
Field work will take place at specific points along the planned railway route. Experts will study soil conditions using different methods.
All land owners whose properties will be involved in engineering research activities in Iecava and Bauska districts will receive information about the purpose of the planned work, its performance, the co-ordinates of the research site and the methods of exploration.
Representatives of RB Rail indicated that additional information for citizens on geo-technical research can be found at the Rail Baltica digital information center.
