Public transport restored on closed Valdemāra Street section in Rīga

On the Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street section that was closed on Saturday due to unspecified hazards of the adjacent buildings, traffic of public transport resumes on Tuesday, LETA reported February 20.

As confirmed by Rīga Mayor Mārtiņš Staķis, Rīga municipality has received an expert opinion allowing the one-lane recovery of public transport services at the closed stage of Valdemāra Street. For drivers, the section between Alojas and Šarlotes Street is still closed.

On the other hand, people from the damaged buildings will be able to pick up their necessary items. The collection of personal belongings will take place in the near future following a schedule established by the Rīga Municipal Police.

As reported by LSM, on Saturday evening, people were evacuated from two buildings on Valdemāra Street due to cracks in the building walls. 33 people were evacuated from two adjacent buildings.
