Rail Baltica builders remind public to follow traffic changes

Take note – story published 1 year ago

In early August, due to the construction work of Rail Baltica, the eastern side of Gogoļa Street overpass was dismantled and a number of changes to traffic and pedestrian flows were introduced, said the builder company Bererix.

Although there are several safe alternative routes for pedestrians, it has been observed that the public is ignoring the informative signs in the construction works area. Therefore, additional solutions for safer traffic and pedestrian flow organisation have been introduced from August 18.

A pedestrian path is set up on the Gogoļa Street on the Central Station side, separated by security barriers from the transport lane.

The builder repeatedly called on pedestrians to plan daily movements along safer routes – to cross Gogoļa Street via either an underground tunnel connecting the Central Station with Stockmann or a street-level pedestrian passage to Gaiziņa Street.

The work of dismantling the eastern half of the overpass has been completed, but the sorting and collection of construction debris will continue to take place in the near future in order to begin the construction of the foundations of the new overpass. The construction work on Gogoļa Street transmission is scheduled to take place until December 2023.
