On Tuesday, November 17, first construction work for Rail Baltica at Rīga Central Station will begin, Latvian Radio reported.

The first works will involve the construction of the new station complex and the adjacent infrastructure. The construction will take place in several rounds and will continue until 2025, destroying and replacing the historic railway base and building a new railway bridge across the Daugava.

The ambitious works for €430 million will be carried out by Bererix, a general partnership company consisting of the Belgian “Besix” and the Latvian “ReRe Group”.

During construction, the train station and the terminal will continue to operate.

Starting October 28, Rīga residents and guests can find information about changes to traffic and pedestrian movement organization on Eiropas Dzelzceļa Līnijas website interactive map.
