Russian citizens' flow to Latvia down 28% since travel restrictions

Since September 19, when the restrictions entered into force for Russian citizens on non-essential travel, the flow of Russian citizens to Latvia has decreased by 28%, the State Border Guard said on October 10.

5,836 Russian citizens have crossed the State border between Russia-Latvia and Belarus-Latvia since September 19. These are only the ones who correspond to the exemption categories laid down in the Government's decision. O

During the previous 24 hours, 262 Russian citizens crossed the external border. In Estonia, the figure was 1,304 and 861 in Lithuania.

During the last day, three Russian citizens have been denied entry to Latvia, while a total of 222 Russian citizens have been denied entry since September 19. They have been refused entry both on the basis of the conditions specified in the Cabinet decision and on other conditions.

No cases have been identified on the “green” border with Russia where persons would attempt to cross it illegally to enter Latvia.
