In mid-2019, Linkaits expressed hope of restoring passenger train traffic within two to three years on the route to Bolderāja, closed in the late 50s. The minister now said that there is clarity on what needs to be done.
Linkaits said in an interview to the Latvian Radio broadcast “Crossroads”: “There will be two new stops on this line – in Bolderāja and at Slokas Street crossing.”
It is also planned to fix the track in Zasulauks and to modernize the line and buy new carriages, “so the trains to Bolderāja and from Bolderāja through Rīga to Jugla could actually run,” he said.
