“This is a very good result, given that the third year of the war in Ukraine is now going and donations to Ukraine are dwindling. This one has shown that we are ready to help,” said Dimanta.
According to her, money donated will be used for Ukraine's most acute needs, including support for the armed forces.
“Ziedot.lv”, along with the Embassy of Ukraine has already ordered the first shipment of 275,000 euros. This shipment will include 46 night-vision thermal cameras. It is also planned to send 44 portable drone catchers to Ukraine.
The public media promotion in support of Ukraine began on February 20 and lasted until March 3.
The head of “Ziedot.lv” added that every week a cargo of aid from all sorts of places in Latvia goes from Latvia to Ukraine.
"The support is solid, it may have reduced the amount of donations or value, but the support is tireless. The easiest thing for residents, of course, is to donate money because it doesn't require deeper involvement,” Dimanta said, noting that there are more than 90 organizations in Latvia that help Ukraine and turn these donations into “real necessities.”
