LTV buys new portable TV stations

Latvian Television (LTV) has selected the suppliers of two portable television stations (PTS) in an open tender and concluded the contracts. In 2025, the Latvian Public Service Media will acquire state-of-the-art 8-camera and 14-camera PTS sets, LTV said October 14.

"The acquisition of the PTS is a very important step in ensuring the continuity of the activities of the Public Service Media, strengthening the information space and the overall security of the country. This long-term investment will ensure the production of content both in everyday life and in emergency situations - in different locations and conditions," said Ivars Priede, Chairman of the Board of LTV.

Two bidders took part in the open tender. In the first part of the tender - for the supply of an 8-camera PTS complex - LTV awarded the contract to TVC Solutions UAB (formerly Televizijos ir ryšio sistemos UAB) from Lithuania, while in the second part - for the supply of a 14-camera PTS complex - ARET Video and Audio Engineering S.r.l. won the contract. from Italy.

"The complex procurement phase is now over and contracts have been signed with the suppliers. The next steps include the development of the functional designs of the two PTSs, the integration of the four vehicles, as well as various technologically sophisticated equipment and software solutions. It is expected that the two sets of PTS will be manufactured, tested, and delivered in Latvia within 14 months. After the training of specialists, the Latvian Public Service Media will be able to provide Latvian viewers and international partners with live television broadcasts and recordings of important events that meet the highest international standards," said Gints Miķelsons, Member of the Board of LTV for Technological and Infrastructure Development.

The new PTSs are needed because the existing LTV stations are outdated - PTS Daugava was built in 2003 and its equipment does not meet the requirements for high-definition HD signal transmission, while PTS Abava was built in 2008 and also no longer meets the high-quality standards.
