REMINDER: May 9 deadline for citizens of other EU states to register for vote in Latvia

Citizens of European Union member states other than Latvia have only a week left to fill in the necessary application to vote in European Parliamentary elections which will be held June 8.

EU citizens must register for the 2024 European Parliament elections in Latvia by May 9, 2024 by submitting a signed application to the Central Election Commission (CVK).

The application can be submitted electronically signed with a secure electronic signature by sending it to [email protected]  or on the portal

The application can also be sent by post (Smilšu iela 4, Riga, LV-1050) or submitted in person on working days from 10:00 to 16:00.

For your convenience we have attached the necessary application form to this news story in Word format. It can be filled out in English (below).

More information about voting for EU citizens in Latvia:

Finding the relevant information on the CVK website is currently a challenge for foreign users. Most of the relevant information (including about the English-language application form) is only available in Latvian and some of what is available in English is out of date and misleading: for example, the CVK English website says the European Parliament elections will take place "on the fourth Saturday of May" (the actual date is June 8) and that Latvia will send 8 MEPs to Brussels (it will send 9 MEPs). LSM has asked the CVK if there are any plans to update this information but has yet to receive a response.
