Voters encouraged to take polling booth selfies

Latvia's Central Election Commission (CVK) has teamed up with rap musician Edavārdi to encourage participation in the 2024 European Parliament elections.

Voters are invited to participate in the European Parliament elections by voting at any of the 945 polling stations throughout Latvia, or at one of the 50 polling stations abroad, recording their vote on their mobile phone, and posting the resulting photo on social networks using the hashtage #europasvēlešanas2024 for the benefit of their followers.

An accompanying song and video has been released [above] in which Edavārdi busts some rhymes and rocks the mic while urging the electorate in the most earnest manner to participate in both the elections themselves and the initiative for ballot box selfies.

European Parliament elections take place June 8. You can read more information about the election process itself at the website of the Central Election Commission and this summary which we have already published. You can also read our two part overview of the 16 parties on the ballot papers here and here.
