Officials elected in 2024 will maintain the amount of basic monthly salary at the level of the previous year or EUR 1137.46. This means that this year, as last year, MPs' salaries will remain unchanged. Riga City Council deputies will receive EUR 1,934 a month before taxes are paid.
The salary of the chairperson of Riga City Council will be EUR 6,415, the salary of deputy chairpersons – EUR 5,346, the chairperson of committees – EUR 3,469 and the deputy chairperson of committees – EUR 2,559 a month before tax.
The commitment of the Riga City Council coalition to freeze the salaries of deputies is provided for in the cooperation memorandum signed by the parties. As the agency LETA found out in the City Council, the freeze of deputies' salaries could save EUR 103,000 in the local government budget.
