The vote on the election of the Chairman of Rīga City Council is scheduled for next Thursday, August 17.
The councilors promise to officially name the mayor's candidate soon. However, it is informally mentioned that Ķirsis would be a candidate, who himself acknowledged that he had been the candidate for the post of mayor of the New Unity in the municipal elections.
Ķirsis pointed out that there are currently good expectations to create a majority in Riga City Council, which could run until the end of the City Council's mandate in 2025.
