Exit poll suggests possible shape of next Rīga municipal administration

With the close of polls in Rīga's municipal elections on August 29, LTV released an exit poll predicting the outcome.

The exit poll prodiced by LTV, Latvian Radio, LETA, Riga Stradiņš University and with the methodological support of the SKDS pollster suggested Development/For!/Progressives ticket would be the largest with 26.6% support followed by Harmony on 18.9%, New Unity on 14.8%, the National Alliance on 8.8%, Honor to Serve Rīga on 7.4%, the New Conservatives on 6.2%, the Latvian Russian Union on 5.2% and the Greens and Farmers Alliance on 4.8%. Other parties had support of less than 4%.

However, given the low turnout and large number of parties contesting the election, the exit poll should perhaps be treated with caution, particularly as around 30% of voters polled did not want to say who they had voted for.

Results are expected on Sunday morning.
