Harmony ahead at halfway mark

Take note – story published 10 years ago

Contrary to exit poll predictions, the opposition Harmony party was ahead in the parliamentary vote count at the halfway mark on Sunday morning.

With 549 of 1054 precincts counted, Harmony has a strong 23.98% of the vote followed by the Greens and Farmers Alliance on 21.9% and Unity in third on 19.99%.

The National Alliance was in fourth on 14.82 with two other parties slated to win seats: Latvia From The Heart on 7.27% and the Regional Alliance on 6.15%.

Turnout at 57% with nearly all votes counted is likely to be the lowest in any parliamentary election.
