Ilze Indriksone candidate for Latvian Economics Minister

The Board of the National Alliance has nominated Ilze Indriksone, Parliamentary Secretary of the Ministry of Economics (EM) for the post of Minister of Economics, Raivis Dzintars, chair of NA, told Latvian Television's broadcast Kas notiek Latvijā?  on May 18.

Dzintars said the board had decided unanimously on Indriksone's candidacy for the post.

He said that the decision was taken to ensure continuity in the EM and to avoid any rupture in the work of the Ministry as far as possible.

“Literally half an hour before this broadcast, the Board of Governors decided on the support of the current parliamentary secretary, Ilze Indriksone [..] The damage has been done, our job is to make it as small as possible,” said Dzintars.

On Thursday, May 19, Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (New Unity) had said he would support the candidacy of Indriksone for the post. The PM met with Indriksone Thursday and discussed work in the sector and the priorities of the EM. Kariņš now urges the Development/For! party to nominate a new Interior Minister.

As reported, on Wednesday, Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš (New Unity) signed an order on the resignation of Economics Minister Jānis Vitenbergs (National Alliance)  due to an ultimatum posed by NA on the resignation of Interior Minister Marija Golubeva.
