November party ratings show lack of interest among Latvian electorate

Take note – story published 4 years ago

The opposition Harmony party continues to boast of the widest support among Latvian voters, but is also continuing to shed that support, according to the latest opinion polling data.

According to a survey conducted by SKDS and Latvian Television in the first half of November and released November 25, 11.2% of citizens said they would vote for Harmony if elections were taking place right now.

In second place was the National Alliance (8.8%), followed by the Greens and Farmers Union (7.5%), New Unity (6.5%), Development / For!  (5.6%), the New Conservative Party (5.4%), KPV LV (3%), Latvian Reguional alliance (2.8%), Progressives (2.1%), Latvian Russian Union (2.0%) with other parties on 0.4 % between them.

But as ever, disillusion and apathy regarding the political system continue to run way ahead of any party. More than a quarter of voters (25.4%) said they were undecided and a further 19.5% said that they would have no intention of participating if Saeima elections were happening now.

The next scheduled Saeima elections are due in October 2022.
