"Latvia was one of the first countries that provided aid to Ukraine. Ukraine will never forget it. We are close friends," said Zelenskyy. During the meeting, E. Levits and V. Zelenskis signed a joint declaration.
"Latvia is doing everything to convince the other Western countries that it is necessary to continue providing help and support to the Ukrainian people, because Ukraine must win this war. It is necessary to increase awareness in the West that Russia is a threat not only to its immediate neighbors, but also on a much wider scale," said Levits.
President Levits also expressed his support for Ukraine's reform efforts so that it could start negotiations on membership of the European Union as soon as possible.
The Presidents issued a joint statement, which is attached to this story (in Latvian).
Before the meeting, the presidents of Latvia and Ukraine, with the participation of their spouses, laid flowers at the Lviv cemetery in memory of the fallen defenders of Ukraine.
A meaningful and symbolic visit of President @valstsgriba to Ukraine. Thank you for the principled defense and political support, for the clear understanding that the aggressor cannot be given a single chance. Ukraine and all of Europe will win! pic.twitter.com/2QT4OUO8sr
