Saeima committee members elected

The Latvian Saeima on November 20 made a decision on electing parliamentary committees.

Saeima committees oversee specific areas in lawmaking as well as keep the executive powers in check. They also prepare matters for review in the parliament. 

Harmony party has selected Nikolajs Kabanovs, Janis Tutins for the work at the foreign committee, Valerijs Agesins for the national security committee, Vjaceslavs Dombrovskis, Igors Pimenovs, Lubova Svecova for work at the budget and finances (taxes) committee. Julija Stepanenko who has been elected from Harmony’s list will work at the legal committee. Boriss Cilevics and Vladimirs Nikonovs will represent Harmony at the human rights and public affairs committee, Edgars Kucins, Evija Papule and Ivans Ribakovs will work at the education, culture and science committee, Janis Adamsons and Ivans Klementjevs will work at the defense, interior affairs and corruption prevention committee.

Sergejs Dolgopolovs, Inga Goldberga and Regina Locmele-Lunova will work at the state administration and local governments committee, Arturs Rubiks, Janis Urbanovics and Ivars Zarins – at the national economy, rural, environment and regional policy committee, Andrejs Klementjevs, Janis Krijans and Vitalijs Orlovs – at the social and labor affairs committee, Orlovs and Rubiks at the mandates, ethics and submissions committee, Andrejs Klementjebs, Ribakovs, Svecova and Zarins at the public expenditure and audit committee, Kabanovs, Locmele-Lunova, Nikonovs and Papule – at the citizenship, migration and society consolidation committee, Cilevics, Dolgopolovs, Pimenovs and Stepankenko – at the European affairs committee, and Dombrovskis, Ivans Klementjevs, Krisans, Stepanenko and Tutins – at the sustainable development committee.

KPV LV has selected Didzis Smits for work at the foreign committee – Aldis Gobzems for the national security committee, Ramona Petravica and Atis Zakatiskovs for the budget and finance (taxes) committee, Ralfs Nemiro and Gobzems for the legal committee, Artuss Kaimins and Linda Liepina for the juman rights and public affairs committee, Ivars Puga and Iveta Benhena-Bekena for the education, culture and science ministry, Kaspars Girgens and Aldis Blumbergs for the defense, interior affairs and corruption prevention committee, Karina Sprude and Eriks Pucens for the state administration and local governments committee.

Janina Kursite and Janis Vitenbergs have been selected for the national economy, rural, environment and regional policy committee, Ieva krapane for the social and labor affairs committee, Kaimins and Petravica for the mandates, ethics and submissions committee, Puga, Liepina and Nemiro for the inquiries commission, Benhena-Bekena, Girgens and Vitenbergs for the public expenditure and audit committee, Kursite and Krapane for the citizenship, migration and society consolidation committee. Also, KPV LV will be represented by Blumbergs and Zakatistovs at the European affairs committee, Sprude, Pucens and Smits at the sustainable development committee.

The New Conservative Party (JKP) will be represented by Juta Strike and Janis Bordans at the legal committee, Juris Jurass at the national security committee, Linda Ozola at the foreign committee, Gatis Eglitis and Reiniz Znotins at the budget and finance (taxes) committee, Dagmara Beitnere-Le Galla at the human rights and public affairs committee, Ilga Suplinska and Anita Muizniece at the education, culture and science committee.

Jurass and Juris Rancans have been selected for the work at the defense, interior affairs and corruption prevention committee, Talis Linkaitis and Uldis Budrikis for the state administration and local governments committee, Krisjanis Feldmans and Sandis Riekstins for the national economy, rural, environment and regional policy committee, Normunds Zunna and Evita Zalite-Grosa for the social and labor affairs committee, Ozola and Zunna for the mandates, ethics and submissions committee, Riekstins and Budrikis for the inquiries committee, Rancans, Strike and Feldmans for the public expenditure and audit committee, Bordans, Beitnere-Le Galla and Zalite-Grosa for he citizenship, migration and society consolidation committee, Eglitis, Linkaits and Znotins for the European affairs committee, Suplinska and Muizniece for the sustainable development committee.

For Development/For has selected Daniels Pavluts for the work at the national security committee, Artis Pabriks and Inese Voika for the foreign committee, Martins Bondars and Juris Puce for the budget and finance (taxes) committee, Dace Ruksane-Scipinska for the human rights and public affairs committee, Marija Golubeva and Ilmars Duritis for the education, culture and science committee, Martins Stakis for the defense, interior affairs and corruption prevention committee, Inese Ikstena for the state administration and local governments committee.

For Development/For will also be represented by Pavluts and Arturs Toms Pelss at the national economy, rural, environment and regional policy committee, Andris Skride at the social and labor affairs committee, Stakis and Puce at the inquiries committee, Skride and Duritis at the mandates, ethics and submissions committee, Voika and Bondars at the public expenditure and audit committee, Pabriks and Pless at the citizenship, migration and society consolidation committee, Terauda and Golubeva at the European affairs committee, Ikstena and Ruksane-Scipinska at the sustainable development committee.

The National Alliance has selected Rihards Kols and Dace Melbarde for the work at the foreign committee, Saeima speaker Inara Murniece at the national security committee, Raivis Dzintars and Inguna Ribena at the education, culture and science committee, Ilze Indriksone and Aleksandrs Kirsteins at the budget and finance (taxes) committee, Ritvars Jansons as the legal committee, Murniece at the human rights and public affairs committee.

The National Alliance will be represented also by Edvins Snore at the defense, interior affairs and corruption prevention committee, Janina Kursite-Pakule at the state administration and local governments committee, Romands Naudins and Janis Dombrava at the national economy, rural affairs, environment and regional policy committee, Edmunds Teirumnieks at the social and labor affairs committee, Dzintars and Kursite-Pakule at the mandates, ethics and submissions committee, Kols and Ribena at the inquiries committee, Indriksone and Naudins at the public expenditure and audit committee, Jansons and Melbarde at the citizenship, migration and society consolidation committee, Kirsteins and Snore at the European affairs committee, and Dombrava and Teirumnieks at the sustainable development committee.

The Greens and Farmers Union will be represented by Maris Kucinskis at the national security committee, Dana Reizniece-Ozola and Janina Jalinska at the budget and finance (taxes) committee, Uldis Augulis at the foreign committee, Raimonds Bergmanis at the defense, interior affairs and corruption prevention committee, Kucinskis at the human right and public affairs committee, Reizniece-Ozola at the European affairs committee, Anda Caksa and Janis Duklavs at the sustainable development committee, Gundars Daudze at the legal committee.

Also Greens/Farmers has selected Janis Vucans for the work at the education, culture and science committee, Vucans and Jalinska for the mandates, ethics and submissions committee, Daudze at the inquiries committee, Bergmanis and Armands Krauze for the citizenship, migration and society consolidation committee, Augulis and Viktors Valainis for the public expenditure and audit committee, Caksa for the social and labor affairs committee, Krauze and Duklavs for the national economy, rural affairs, environment and regional policy committee, and Valainis for the state administration and local governments committee.

New Unity will be represented by Edgars Rinkevics at the budget and finance (taxes) committee, Janis Reirs at the social and labor affairs committee, Ojars Eriks Kalnins at the foreign committee, Ainars Latkovskis at the defense, interior affairs and corruption prevention committee, Kalnins at the public expenditure and audit committee, Latkovskis and Aldis Adamovics at the mandates, ethics and submissions committee, Inese Libina-Egnere at the national security committee and legal committee.

Andrejs Judins will work at the human rights and public affairs committee and the citizenship, migration and society consolidation committee, Arvils Aseradens – at the sustainable development committee and the education, culture and science committee, Adamovics – at the national economy, rural, environment and regional policy committee, Rinkevics – at the European affairs committee, and Reirs – at the inquiries committee.

Several Saeima committees will meet already today to elect their leadership.
