On Thursday, December 1, a majority of the Saeima rejected a declaration called by several members of the opposition on "Errors and exaggerations made by the Saeima and the government in combating the spread of Covid-19 infection".

The declaration was signed by several members of the opposition parties “Latvia First” and “For Stability!”. They urged the Saeima to declare that the State of Latvia “condemns the country's own actions against its citizens during the prevention of Covid-19”, as well as “condemns the actions of all those who participated in the implementation of unjustified repression”.

The opposition MPs also called on the Saeima to declare that "The Latvian State regrets that national policies have caused irreparable damage to the development of children and young people, particularly in less wealthy families, and that the country should reduce the long-term impact of harm on national education, sport and social education programs."

34 Members voted for the declaration, 59 voted against, while 1 abstained.
