The Saeima also approved the planned monthly allowance for vulnerable groups of society – pension beneficiaries, seniors, disabled people, and survivors between November 1, 2022, and May 31, 2023.
It is also stipulated that the availability of housing benefits is improved by providing that people with higher incomes will also benefit from the aid.
From September 1, 2022, to April 30, 2023, the factor in the calculation of the amount of the housing benefit increases, which will result in a guaranteed minimum income (GMI) threshold for calculating the amount of the housing benefit of EUR 327 for the first or only person in the household and EUR 228 for other persons in the household.
The government is scheduled to decide on more aid measures, for example, for businesses and other establishments like hospitals.
