The official has been accused of abusing the statutory rights and powers of a police officer to exercise physical force during his time in office and of using unjustified violence against a man, causing him physical pain.
The accused has also been criminally prosecuted for providing a false report of committing a criminal offense with a view to obtaining the initiation of criminal proceedings against the aforementioned man on charges of committing a serious crime.
The criminal case has been referred to Riga City Court.
