Security service to publish job vacancies online

One of Latvia's three security services, the Constitution Protection Bureau (Satversmes aizsardzības birojs, SAB), may necessarily rely upon a certain amount of secrecy in performing its tasks, but is becoming more open in at least one respect: recruitment.

In an announcement November 16, SAB said that from now on job vacancies will be published on its official website www.sab.gov.lv.

"Since the middle of last year, SAB has publicly announced a competition for several positions. It successfully managed to find new and capable employees. Therefore, from today, SAB provides a permanent opportunity for candidates who would like to participate in strengthening national security with their professional skills, to apply for a job at the bureau," SAB said.

Applicants for all jobs will need to submit a motivation letter and CV, and obviously expect to be evaluated and checked out.

The current vacancy list includes jobs as a Counterintelligence Specialist, Analyst, Network Administrator and the intriguing-sounding Electromagnetic Measurement Specialist.

SAB is a state security institution whose main tasks are intelligence, counter-intelligence and protection of state secrets. It is also part of the NATO and European Union intelligence community, working closely with partner countries on a daily basis. It is one of three national security services in Latvia. The others are the State Security Service (VDD) and the Defense Intelligence and Security Service (MIDD).

If you're thinking of applying, it might be worthwhile reading SAB's report on its 2022 activities to dazzle the interviewers with your knowledge.
