The defense training “Namejs 2023” will be held around the Ministry of Defense building complex in Rīga on Thursday, September 28, the Ministry said.

The movement of pedestrians on sections of Skolas Street, Elizabetes Street, and Krišjāņa Valdemara street may be blocked for a short period of time.

The Ministry warned that training ammunition and simulant combat agents can be used during training, which makes noise, but this does not endanger the health and life of those around.

The military exercises “Namejs 2023” organized by the National Armed Forces throughout Latvia take place from September 5 to October 2. They aim to improve and strengthen the capacity to carry out tasks in the event of a threat to the country.

The active phase of training has also started in the Rīga, Pierīga, and Kurzeme regions. During the training, the presence of National Guard units is planned on some streets of the Riga Center. Residents are asked to treat military exercises with understanding.
