Starting August 30, the National Armed Forces (NBS) military training “Namejs” will take place throughout Latvia, NBS representative Sandra Brāle told Latvian Radio.

The training will be carried out to check and improve the readiness of the teams to fulfil their national defense tasks. During training, it is possible that residents may encounter movements of military vehicles, equipment, and soldiers.

“The scope of these military exercises is very extensive, including the assessment and development of the National Armed Forces Command System, checks and development of supply issues, the procedures for the integration of air and land forces, and the implementation and assessment of tactical operations in the context of hybrid and conventional conflict,” said NBS spokeswoman, Major Sandra Brāle.

She added that the active stages of the military training will take place not only in the training area of Ādaži and other training areas but also in Rīga and other cities of Latvia.

“I ask residents not to worry about seeing soldiers and guardsmen moving outside military areas, and to be understanding about short-term traffic obstacles that may result from increased movement of military equipment by road,” the NBS representative says.
