STRATCOMCOE looks at Russia in the Western Balkans

The latest online discussion from the Rīga-based NATO Strategic Communications Center of Excellence (STRATCOMCOE) takes place May 13, with the subject in focus being "Russia’s footprint in the Western Balkan information environment".

Taking part will be Prof. Dimitar Bechev (Research Fellow, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill), Milan Jovanović (Researcher, Atlantic Council of Montenegro) and Sanda Svetoka (Senior Expert, NATO StratCom COE).

Questions to be consdered will include: What are Russia’s strategic interests and tools of influence in the Western Balkan region? What are the regional characteristics and challenges that facilitate Russia’s influence in the media space? What is Kremlin’s potential to reach Western Balkan audiences?

The discussion will be based around a new set of reports from STRATCOMCOE that analyse Russia’s influence toolset and its activities in the media space of Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia. The reports can be found on: stratcomcoe.org/publications .

The discussion will be livestreamed on 13 MAY 16:00 EEST (GMT+3) on Facebook and YouTube, and LSM will include it below, too.
