The Latvian School of Business of Finance (Banku augstskola) will be moved under the auspices of the University of Latvia (LU) by August 31, 2025, where it will continue to exist as a university institution, the government decided on Tuesday, May 23.

In February 2022, the government supported the plan for further linking science and higher education financing to the results of the international evaluation of Latvian science, including consolidation of state-funded universities, in this case the integration of the School of Business of Finance into LU.

After the reorganization, the School of Business of Finance will continue to exist as an institution of the University of Latvia while maintaining its academic and scientific autonomy, name, and symbolism.

The Ministry also pointed out that the reorganization of School of Business of Finance would have a positive impact on the economy because the administrative burden for the implementation of study programs will be reduced, and the issue of duplication of study programs will be assessed.

A similar process will also apply to the Rēzekne Technology Academy, which will be integrated into the Rīga Technical University.
