High school pupils will have one exam less in 2021 and 2022

Take note – story published 3 years ago

This year and next year, 12th grade pupils will not have a mandatory fourth exam, National Center for Education said January 28.

The government has decided to set three compulsory exams - in Latvian, one foreign language, and mathematics - for students of grade 12 this year and next year.

Fourth exam is still an option if it is necessary for entrance to higher education establishment, but it will not be compulsory.

Given that in this school year learning is mostly remote and affects language learning, the government has decided that exams in foreign language will take place in May. Usually, these take place earlier, during spring holidays.
