Latvian pupils triumph at International Economics Olympiad

Latvian Television reported September 21 that Latvian high school pupils' team of five have all come on top at the International Economics Olympiad.

The annual competition in economics organized for high school students. Intended to stimulate the activities of students interested in economics, business, and finance by the way of creative problem-solving. IEO was held online on 7-13 September 2020.

Five pupils from Latvia participated, and all received prizes. Valmiera Pārgauja State Gymnasium pupil Emīls Krasts received gold, Rīga State Gymnasium No.1 pupils Edvards Gaters and Kristofers Kārlis Krūmiņš, as well as Rīga Technical University Engineering Sciences School Daniels Stabulis got silver, whereas Rīga State Gymnasium No.1 pupil Roberts Oskars Vītiņš was awarded bronze.

The supervisor of the team, university lecturer Mārtiņš Danušēvičs, told Latvian  Television that he is proud of the team and that "we look amazing against the background of the great states of the world."
