University of Tartu is the highest-ranking university in the Baltics. It is part of the 301st to 350th group. Tallinn University is in the 801st-1,000th group. Vilnius University is in the 801st-1,000th group, while Kaunas University of Technology is in the 1,000+ group.

The list of the best universities in the world is dominated by the University of Oxford and the University of Cambridge in the UK, and the Ivy League universities of the Unites States..

Pointedly, the research shows some interesting statistics over the student make-up at the universities. For example, the Rīga Technical University has more foreign students (11%) than the University of Latvia (6%). But the ratio of female to male students is close to inverse, with 70:30 at the University of Latvia and 36:64 at Rīga Technical University, whereas it's close to equal at the University of Agriculture.
