Take note – story published 2 years and 11 months ago

On Monday, July 12, Latvia reported 18 new cases of Covid-19 infection, according to the Disease Prevention and Control Center (SPKC).

The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 137,917.  Monday's total is usually the lowest of the week in absolute numbers due to a relatively small number of tests being carried out on Sundays.

Of 3,602 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 0.5% were positive, consistent with the rate over the last two weeks.

The 14-day cumulative infection rate per 100,000 inhabitants ticked down slightly from 36.4 Sunday to 35.8 Monday.

There were no additional Covid-19 deaths confirmed Monday. The death toll since the start of the pandemic remains at 2,536.

On Sunday 70 patients were being treated for Covid-19 symptoms in Latvian hospitals, while the number of people who have completed a course of vaccination reached 612,814.

Meanwhile 22 cases of coronavirus were confirmed in Estonia Monday and 22 cases in Lithuania.
