Of 14,053 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 17.4% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population jumped from 951.0 Tuesday to 1010.1 Wednesday. The last time the morbidity was above 1,000 was on November 16, 2021.
Sadly, 22 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. The youngest of the victims were aged 40-49 years and seven were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,690.
Tuesday data from the National Health Service show 585 patients being treated in hospital with 57 patients admitted and 57 discharged during the last 24 hours. 87 patients are displaying serious symptoms.
In the other Baltic states, Estonia had 240 hospitalized patients, 2,202 new cases and 4 deaths confirmed during the last 24 hours while Lithuania hit an all-time high with over 4,600 daily infections.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.
Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
