Over 1,000 cases were recorded for the second day in a row. Previously, the last time the figures were that high was December 1.
Of the 1,319 total, 582 were unvaccinated persons, or persons not fully vaccinated, and 737 were fully vaccinated. The total number of cases detected since the start of the pandemic now stands at 274,271.

Of the 9,906 tests carried out in the past 24 hours, 13.3% were positive. The 14-day cumulative morbidity rate per 100,000 population rose from 518 Tuesday to 540 Wednesday.
Unfortunately, 24 more Covid-related deaths were also confirmed. All of the fatalities were aged 60 years or over and five of them were fully vaccinated. The total death toll since the start of the pandemic now stands at 4,553.
Tuesday data from the National Health Service show 499 patients being treated in hospital with 76 displaying serious symptoms.
In the other Baltic states, Estonia reported 880 new cases and 4 deaths while in Lithuania there were nearly 2,000 cases and 17 deaths.

If you have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19, or you have fully recovered from a confirmed case of it, you can obtain a digital certificate attesting to your status at the website https://covid19sertifikats.lv.
Latvia is also part of the European Union's wider Covid-19 certification scheme. All arrivals to the country (including returnees) need to fill in an electronic declaration prior to coming to Latvia. It is available at the website covidpass.lv.
