A total of 35 persons have died from exposure to the cold from October 1 to January 15, LETA was informed by the State Forensic Medical Center.

26 males and nine females have been found dead so far this season from exposure to the cold.

The oldest was a 73-year-old man who was found in a building in Kandava, he was not under the influence of alcohol at the time.

Meanwhile, the youngest was a 20-year-old women who was found dead on a street in Riga, she too did not have alcohol in her system.

Out of those who have been found dead this season, 18 were under the influence of alcohol at the time, while nine bodies are still going through a forensics examination.
